Document Structure

HTML 3.2 and Netscape 3.0


Every HTML 3.2 document begins with the following <!DOCTYPE> declaration (to distinguish HTML 3.2 from other versions of HTML), followed by HEAD and BODY elements. The TITLE tags are required. All other tags are optional.

  <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN">
     <HTML>
  1. <HEAD>
     <TITLE>Life after Death? A first-hand account</TITLE>
     ... other head elements
     </HEAD>
  2. <BODY>
     ... document body (includes block, text, and header elements)
  3.  BLOCK-type elements (P, DIV, TABLE, Lists, etc.)
     </BODY>
     </HTML>
